TSA agents could meet “reasonable suspicion” mandate if travelers set off metal detector or refuse naked body scan

Despite Texas lawmakers claiming otherwise, the final Senate version of a bill that purports to criminalize invasive pat downs actually authorizes the TSA to continue groping travelers, mandating only that they need “reasonable suspicion” to indicate that the person may be carrying a prohibited object, which could easily be claimed if the person sets off a metal detector or refuses to undergo a full body scan.

Essentially, after weeks of federal threats and deliberate sabotage, the legislation passed by the Senate last night gives the TSA carte blanche to continue business as usual, because the language of the bill is completely toothless.

An even weaker version of the bill was passed the House yesterday as protesters, led by Austin-based radio host Alex Jones, chanted “treason” and “traitors” outside the chambers of both the House and Senate. The House will today hear the final Senate version of the bill.

The amended text of the Senate version (read it here) states that an invasive pat down is only criminal, “without reasonable suspicion of the presence of an unknown, unlawful, or prohibited object.”

The term “reasonable suspicion” replaces the previous and far stronger language of “probable cause”. Of course, the TSA will now merely claim that “reasonable suspicion” is met when a person either sets off a metal detector or refuses to undergo a naked body scan. In other words, this would mandate no change in current TSA policy.

On his Facebook page, the bill’s sponsor Senator Dan Patrick calls the legislation the “Best version (of) any of the previous bills,” before demanding that the House pass his incarnation when they meet today after 2pm.

The TSA Tyranny lobbying group, who previously withdrew support for the Senate version of the bill, applauded Patrick for his efforts.

“This is language that we can support – while not perfect, and not as strong as “probable cause”, the additional qualifiers limit the breadth of reason to grant authority to “search,” the group announced on their Facebook page.

Patrick calls the legislation a “good bill” and a “huge win for liberty,” yet there will be many skeptics who merely view this as an authorization for the TSA to continue current policy, and nothing like a condemnation of their egregious behavior, characterized most recently by a case in which a sick 95-year-old grandmother was forced to remove her adult diaper during screening at Northwest Florida Regional Airport.

Although Patrick claims the Senate version is significantly stronger than the House version, the key provisions of each bill are almost identical.

Another indication that the bill passed yesterday by the House is a compromise too far is the fact that both Speaker of the House Joe Straus and Lt. Governor David Dewhurst immediately issued statements praising the legislation. As we have documented, Straus and Dewhurst have been instrumental in sabotaging the bill from the very beginning, gutting it of any real power.

The fact that Straus is now “satisfied” with a bill that just days ago he labeled an “ill-advised publicity stunt,” betrays just how meaningless the legislation has been rendered by the actions of these two apologists for big government.

Alex Jones is prolonging the fight to get a real bill passed that genuinely criminalizes invasive TSA groping. He is calling on all Texans to continue aggressively lobbying their representatives in a bid to mandate Rick Perry to create a new special session, by maintaining a presence at the Capitol to force lawmakers into following the will of the people.

Take a look at the dollar bill in your wallet.  Go ahead, take a look.  You see that dollar bill?  It’s not yours.  In fact, it belongs to the Federal Reserve, a private bank, on loan to the United States government, and ultimately, the American taxpayer.  Printed from nothing, backed by nothing.  The value of the dollar can disappear over night if the Fed wanted it to.

Remember not long after invasion, United States military and coalition forces found a cache of USD hidden away in one of Saddam’s bunkers?  Although it has never been established whether or not the money came from the Federal Reserve, but popular conjecture would say to the positive; given the Federal Reserve’s history of secrecy and the recent revelation of misplaced monies.

A few soldiers took some cash for their own troubles and they were arrested, although, I don’t know what happened to them.  But isn’t that funny?  The Federal Reserve can operate in secret, give money to unknown persons around the world, but the moment a U.S. servicemen does basically the same…nothing is forgiven.

That’s a fact.  And so is this.

CNBC reports today:

The New York Fed is refusing to tell investigators how many billions of dollars it shipped to Iraq during the early days of the US invasion there, the special inspector general for Iraq reconstruction told CNBC Tuesday.

The Fed’s lack of disclosure is making it difficult for the inspector general to follow the paper trail of billions of dollars that went missing in the chaotic rush to finance the Iraq occupation, and to determine how much of that money was stolen.

The New York Fed will not reveal details, the inspector general said, because the money initially came from an account at the Fed that was held on behalf of the people of Iraq and financed by cash from the Oil-for-Food program. Without authorization from the account holder, the Iraqi government itself, the inspector general’s office was told it can’t receive information about the account.

The problem is that critics of the Iraqi government believe highly placed officials there are among the people who may have made off with the money in the first place.

As I noted last year:

In July 2009, Congressman Henry Waxman stated:

In a 13 month period from May 2003 to June 2004, the Federal Reserve sent nearly $12 billion in cash, mainly in $100 bills from the United States to Iraq. To do that, the Federal Reserve Bank in New York had to pack 281 million individual bills … onto wooden pallets to be shipped to Iraq. The cash weighed more than 363 tons and was loaded onto C-130 cargo planes to be flown into Baghdad…

Angeles Times reportedat the time:

Prior audits by Stuart W. Bowen Jr., the special inspector general for Iraq reconstruction, found that more than $8.8 billion in such funds could not be properly accounted for.

Bloomberg wrote:

A report from Waxman’s House Oversight and Government Reform Committee … described contractors being told to bring big bags to collect shrink- wrapped bundles of money and one episode where a Bremer staff member was allegedly told to spend $6.75 million in a week.

“We have no way of knowing if the cash that was shipped into the green zone ended up in enemy hands,” Waxman, a California Democrat, said at today’s hearing.

I’m not too worried about the money having fallen into enemy hands. I think it is much more likely that it fell into the hands of gleeful defense contractors, like these happy fellows:

In addition, ABC notedthat there might have been a partisan bias:

Rep. Paul Hodes, D-N.H., claimed that recent college graduates with Republican ties were sent to Iraq instead of experienced government personnel.

Rodes challenged, “I want to know why half the U.S. staff had never been outside of the country before and had to get a passport for the first time?”

(I’m not trying to make this a partisan issue: under the current Democratic administration, I would guess that Democratic folks are favorably getting their palms greased).
$2.4 billion of these $100 dollar bills were loaded onto pallets, put on C-130s and shipped to Iraq in June 2004 alone:

Then, when the shipment date changed, officials had to scramble to line up U.S. Air Force C-130 cargo planes to hold the money. They did, and the $2,401,600,000 was delivered to Baghdad on June 22, 2004.

It was the largest one-time cash transfer in the history of the New York Fed

And guess who was the head of the New York Fed at the time this was going on?Yup … Pallet Tim.

Note: I am not implying that the Fed’s shipment to Iraq were illegal (they were apparently part of a UN-sponsored Iraqi oil revenue arrangement). And I am not implying that Geithner is responsible for the theft of billions of dollars by defense contractors or others – he was never asked to oversee distribution of the funds once they arrived in Iraq, and he wasn’t head of the New York Fed when the shipments started.

Al Jazeera noted Sunday that the figure might actually be much higher:

[An] Iraqi parliament speaker, has told Al Jazeera that the amount of Iraqi money unaccounted for by the US is $18.7bn – three times more than the reported $6.6bn.

Just before departing for a visit to the US, al-Nujaifi said that he has received a report this week based on information from US and Iraqi auditors that the amount of money withdrawn from a fund from Iraqi oil proceeds, but unaccounted for, is much more than the $6.6bn reported missing last week.

“There is a lot of money missing during the first American administration of Iraqi money in the first year of occupation.”Iraq’s development fund has lost around $18bn of Iraqi money in these operations – their location is unknown. Also missing are the documents of expenditure.

“I think it will be discussed soon. There should be an answer to where has Iraqi money gone.”

The Bush administration flew in a total of $20bn in cash into the country in 2004. This was money that had come from Iraqi oil sales, surplus funds from the UN oil-for-food programme and seized Iraqi assets.

Officials in Iraq were supposed to give out the money to Iraqi ministries and US contractors, intended for the reconstruction of the country.

***
The US has audited the money three times, but has still not been able to say exactly where it went.

***

“There is going to be a fairly wide net cast – some of them [involved in mishandling of this money] are thought to be US officials, but many here believe that it is the Iraqis who have filled their pockets.

“Safeguarding the money was up to the Americans … after the invasion, provisional authority here was run by the American military.

The Los Angeles Times reported on June 13th:

For the first time, federal auditors are suggesting that some or all of the cash may have been stolen, not just mislaid in an accounting error. Stuart Bowen, special inspector general for Iraq reconstruction, an office created by Congress, said the missing $6.6 billion may be “the largest theft of funds in national history.”

***

Theft of such a staggering sum might seem unlikely, but U.S. officials aren’t ruling it out. Some U.S. contractors were accused of siphoning off tens of millions in kickbacks and graft during the post-invasion period, especially in its chaotic early days. But Iraqi officials were viewed as prime offenders.

The Federal Reserve has been involved in other unsavory activities as well, such as loaning billions to Gaddaffi and covering up the source of funding for the Watergate burglars.

Geithner’s New York Fed also pushed to keep pay AIG’s CDS counterparties at full value, and then to keep the deal secret.

Everyone wants to be like the front-runner.

Former speaker is suddenly sounding a lot like a certain Libertarian Congressman

In a very telling move, Newt Gingrich has apparently decided that he stands a much better chance of winning the GOP nomination for 2012 if he acts like Congressman Ron Paul.

As documented by Conor Friedersdorf at The Atlantic, Gingrich is going after the Federal Reserve.

The former speaker of the house is to make a push to fully audit the Fed a cornerstone of his campaign.

Gingrich, due to address the Atlanta Press Club today, will tell the audience that he believes the Fed should be stripped of its banking powers so that it is focused entirely on protecting the value of the dollar.

Gingrich outlined the move during a recent appearance on the Hugh Hewitt radio show:

Newt Gingrich: Well, on Wednesday, I’m going to be at the Atlanta Press Club, and I’m going to give a speech in which I outline both the need to audit the Federal Reserve, because we have, as Americans, we have every right to ask who got our money, and you’re talking about hundreds of billions of dollars. And I’m going to call for a reform of the Federal Reserve, to take the banking powers away from it, and return it to a single job, which is the duty to protect the value of the dollar. And finally, I’m going to talk about the need to repeal the Dodd-Frank bill, which is a very destructive bill, which is killing small banks, killing small business, and crippling the economic recovery.

Sounds familiar, right?

The interview continued…

Hugh Hewitt: Now in terms of what you expect to find when the audit is done of the Federal Reserve, you don’t believe there’s anything sinister at work there, do you?

Newt Gingrich: Well no, I don’t know what you mean by sinister. I mean, do I think that out of hundreds of billions of dollars, some of which went to the Libyan National Bank, a country we’re currently bombing, that there’s a lot of questions that will come up? You betcha.

Hugh Hewitt: Yeah, but usually, when I get calls from people who want to talk about the Federal Reserve, in about five seconds, they’re going to start telling me the Jews are running it. And so I know you know that that fringe element exists out there, and this is not what you’re concerned about. You’re concerned about crony capitalism.

Newt Gingrich: Well you know, the Federal Reserve uses that kind of argument to say nobody should ever ask it an intelligent question. The fact you have some people who have extreme views doesn’t mean that the questions aren’t legitimate. I would ask a simple question. Under what standard, and this goes back to my book, A Nation Like No Other, under what standard did the founding fathers, would you have hundreds of billions of dollars controlled by one person who owes no accountability to anybody? I mean, that is a bizarre model. The Federal Reserve wasn’t set up to bail out banks and to cut deals, and to hang out with people in New York City. The Federal Reserve was set up to maintain the value of the dollar… We have an agency which is supposed to be an elitist agency, protecting the value of the dollar, which uses its elitism as an excuse to avoid being held accountable.

Gingrich also referred to the over reach of the Fed last week in remarks to the Republican Leadership Conference.

He is also about to embark on a “gold standard tour” of Iowa, calling for a reintroduction of the gold standard to government spending. Ron Paul has not been invited to join this bus tour by the GOP organisers, which in itself should set alarm bells ringing, given that the Congressman has been pushing for this very issue since the early 1980s, while establishment figures such as Gingrich have been laughing at him and calling him crazy for decades.

The difference between Gingrich and Ron Paul is of course the fact that Ron Paul has held a steadfast position for over thirty years and has a voting record to match. Gingrich, on the other hand, loves to flip flop around, literally from week to week.

It is especially strange to see Gingrich shifting towards a Tea Party like position, given that just a few months ago he was referring to it as a “militant wing of the Republican Party”.

One is left asking what exactly does Newt Gingrich stand for?

Well…

In no sense of the word is Newt Gingrich a “conservative” or even a traditional Republican. He was a fellow at the neocon criminal organizations the American Enterprise Institute and the Hoover Institution. During the Bush regime he sat on the Pentagon’s Defense Policy Board with fellow neocon Richard Perle and representatives of the death merchants Bechtel, Boeing, TRW, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin and Booz Allen Hamilton. Rockefeller minion Henry Kissinger was also a member during the Bush years.

He was also a “distinguished” advisor at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, another neocon think tank that is closely linked with the National Endowment for Democracy, an organization that does today what was done covertly 25 years ago by the CIA, as one of its founders, Allen Weinstein, admitted in 2000. In short, NED overthrows governments in disfavor by the elite and organizes color revolutions designed to replace democratic elections.

The Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (an Orwellian name if ever there was one) is a virtual rat hole of neocons including former CIA director James Woolsey, the senator from Israel, Joe Lieberman, Gary Bauer, Frank Gaffney, Bill Kristol, Charles Krauthammer, Walid Phares, and a scattering of like-minded Democrats such as the gun-grabber Frank Lautenberg and Chuckie Schumer.

Gingrich is reputed to be a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and to have ties to the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research (founded by the late William J. Casey, Reagan’s CIA director who was largely responsible for creating the Afghan Mujihadeen that would later become the CIA asset al-Qaeda).

Newt has also attended Bohemian Grove where he rubbed elbows with occultists and male prostitutes. Newt has said he is not associated with worshipers of the Canaanite owl of Bohemia but he is a demonstrated liar (his photo appears on the pages of the Annals of the Bohemian Club).

Of course, as we have highlighted recently, almost all of the Republican candidates have mimicked Ron Paul’s populist rhetoric and his stand point on issues like the federal reserve, Obamacare, and getting government out of people’s business. But they are wolves in sheep’s clothing and just like Obama’s promises of transparency and hope evaporated almost instantaneously, neo-cons like Gingrich, Mitt Romney and the rest of the field will do nothing to affect real change.

John Kerry, the Democrat Foreign Relations Committee Chairman, and John McCain, the senior Republican on the Armed Services Committee, will introduce a resolution today in an attempt to legitimize Obama’s invasion of Libya.

June 19 marked 90 days since Obama called for U.S. intervention under a humanitarian pretense. According to the War Powers Act, the president must wait on Congress to pass a resolution after 90 days.

McCain took to the Senate floor and said the measure would authorize Obama to advance U.S. “national security interests” as part of an international coalition attempting to unseat and even assassinate Gaddafi. The authority would be limited to a year, according to the Associated Press.

Kerry and McCain introduced the resolution in order to head off an attempt by the House to defund the operation. The effort began after Obama ignored Congress and did not seek a formal declaration of war, as stated under Article I, Section 8, Clause 11 of the United States Constitution.

Congress has not issued a formal declaration of war since the Second World War. The United States has formally declared war against foreign nations five separate times, each upon prior request by the president. Four of those five declarations came after hostilities began.

During the Federal Convention of 1787, the phrase “make war” was changed to “declare war” in order to allow the executive branch to respond promptly to sudden attacks without approval of Congress or a formal declaration of war.

Resolutions have been ignored and violated in the past. For instance, in 1971 when Congress repealed the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, then president Nixon ignored the will of the people and continued to wage war in Vietnam. In response, Congress passed the War Powers Resolution over a Nixon veto.

“The Constitution does not permit any president to decide unilaterally to overthrow foreign governments, redraw the world’s map, and put the national survival of the United States in jeopardy by committing us to a potential fight to the death with another sovereign nation,” writes Ken Klukowski. “Only Congress can make that decision, authorizing the president to use our military to wage war. Once authorized, only the president can actually order the military to attack. This is a two-step safeguard; both steps must be met before America goes to war.”

McCain and Kerry are introducing a resolution that will attempt continue Obama’s unilateral effort to overthrow the regime of Gaddafi. Instead of a formal declaration of war, they are attempting to pass a resolution that will eventually be ignored.

“I would be the first to admit that this authorization is not perfect, and it will not make everyone happy. It does not fully make me happy,” McCain said on the Senate floor, adding that he preferred that the resolution called the U.S. to commit more air power to the effort.

“That said, this authorization has been a bipartisan effort,” he added. “My Republican colleagues and I have had to make compromises, just as the Senator from Massachusetts and his Democratic colleagues have had to do. The end result, I believe, is an authorization that deserves the support of my colleagues in the Senate, on both side of the aisle. And I am confident they will support it.”

Weiner resigned.  Nothing more needs to be said, does it?

To be honest, I didn’t think that he would.  After all, his scandal wasn’t as bad as those of others in the past, and he violated no laws.  But with the constant onslaught of the Republicans acting as vultures and the Democrats going on their own campaign to oust him, how can a man survive?

Nancy Pelosi even went to the airwaves to condemn his actions and publicly called for his resignation.  This was all deserved, right?  Weiner embarrassed the Democrats.  But one should ask Pelosi why she supported Charles Rangel for eighteen months while he was under investigation for ethics violations.

But as one colleague of Weiner’s said: This where you find the difference between “money” and “morals.”

In a short time, Weiner will be just another page in history; just another member of Congress to have had an affair.  However, I also think this shows just how fickle politicians can be.

Establishment to insert George W. Bush 2.0 as spoiler for Ron Paul Revolution

Every indication suggests that Bilderberg-approved Texas Governor Rick Perry is set to become the frontrunner in the Republican race to challenge Barack Obama for the presidency, illustrating once again how a shady, secretive and undemocratic global elite holds the reigns of true power while Americans are distracted by the delusional notion that they have a genuine choice in 2012.

Bilderberg Approved Perry Set to Become Presidential Frontrunner RickPerry

“Perry has said he will announce his decision soon. One member of his campaign team said he was closer than ever to joining the race and he was testing the prospects in the early caucus and primary states of Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina. If he does stand, Republicans at the New Orleans conference predicted he would become the frontrunner of a so-far uninspiring field,” reports the London Guardian.

Texas Governor Perry, a protégé of Karl Rove, is very good at acting like a down-home populist, but that’s all it is – an act. Perry is George W. Bush 2.0.

While spewing Tea Party-style rhetoric about secession, shooting coyotes and courting the favor of Christian evangelicals, behind closed doors Perry has been quietly selling out Texas to globalist interests, auctioning off highways to foreign companies to turn them into profit-driven toll roads.

“Speculation that Perry is the Bilderberg group’s ace card was prompted by the current political climate, which can largely be gleaned from the fact that Perry is a longtime, unwavering supporter of the NAFTA Superhighway and related infrastructure projects,” wrote AFP’s Jim Tucker earlier this month. “These pave the way for the Bilderberg-supported North American Union (NAU) proposal that would merge the U.S., Canada and Mexico.”

Perry has also given enthusiastic support to former Mexican President Vicente Fox’s efforts to turn Texas into a sanctuary state for illegal immigrants. He also aggressively promoted the Rockefeller Foundation-backed HPV vaccination campaign in Texas that has led to deaths worldwide. David Rockefeller is a prominent Bilderberger, attending each annual meeting without fail.

Perry attended the June 2007 Bilderberg conference in Istanbul, Turkey, and in doing so violated the Logan Act, a United States federal law that forbids unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments.

Look beyond the rhetoric and study what Perry has actually done in his role as Governor – he’s the ultimate globalist – his every action illustrates how he’s the diametric opposite to the image of the Tea Party populist that he attempts to portray. That’s why he’s the perfect pick for the globalists, someone who can suck in the trust of the American people only to stab them in the back upon becoming president, just as Obama did before him.

Bilderberg has proven its kingmaker role time and time again not just in US politics but worldwide. Bill Clinton was a little-known Governor of Arkansas before he attended a Bilderberg meeting in 1991 and went on to become President a year later. Similarly, British Prime Minister Tony Blair attended Bilderberg before his election in 1997. According to Euro Weekly News, Maria Dolores De Cospedal’s attendance at Bilderberg 2011 in St. Moritz Switzerland also “augurs a victory in Spain’s next general election” for her Partido Popular party.

Obama himself was reportedly vetted by Bilderberg when he infamously disappeared to a secret location with Hillary Clinton in June 2008 in Northern Virginia, at precisely the same time and location the Bilderberg Group were convening in Chantilly. Bilderberg luminary James A. Johnson was also responsible for selecting Obama’s running mate Joe Biden, having also previously selected John Edwards as John Kerry’s right hand man in 2004 after Edwards had impressed Bilderberg elitists Henry Kissinger and David Rockefeller with a speech he gave at the globalist confab in Italy that year.

In a comparatively weak GOP field, the establishment cannot take any chances in allowing Ron Paul to gain momentum as the only candidate who has a real chance of defeating Barack Obama.

As polls have shown, out of the Republican candidates, only Ron Paul has a realistic hope of success in a hypothetical run off against Obama – the other candidates are equally unpopular as the President.

Despite the fact that Mitt Romney has been anointed by the establishment as the Republican favorite, a May CNN poll found that he would lose by 11 points if he got the nomination and went head to head with Obama, whereas Paul only trails the President by 7 points.

Bilderberg’s continual influence in picking US presidents and potential vice-presidents again serves up a reminder that the real power structure steering the planet goes beyond teleprompter-reading puppet presidents and rests in the hands of multi-generational globalists, central banking moguls and the CEO’s of the world’s biggest corporations, all of whom routinely attend the Bilderberg Group confab every year.

Watch the clips below in which Rick Perry’s connection to the NAFTA Superhighway and the North American Union is documented, as well as Alex Jones’ protest of Perry’s globalist agenda.
