H1N1: Fact or Fiction?

The world hasn’t seen an epidemic since the Spanish Influenza circled the world and killed nearly 20 million people.  We remember when H1N1 came out, people wore masks and gloves, hysteria seemed to hit it’s peek.  A few nights ago my wife came up to me and said she saw a report that said authorities are expecting a dramatic influx in H1N1 cases after Thanksgiving.  Yeah, they would know.

A couple of years ago I was nearly diagnosed with infuenza, not fun.  As of right now I have known about six people that have had the H1N1 and everyone of them has survived.  30,000 people a year die from the flu, so why is the government hyping this up to be something to the equivalent of the Black Death?  I don’t know.
